Pop-up sale exhibition Le pavot bleu by Louise TanguayDesjardins area of the Great Hall
An emblematic flower of the Jardins de Métis, the blue poppy arouses fascination and admiration in our visitors. It was this same fascination that inspired Elsie Reford to grow the blue poppy. In the summer of 1933, Elsie introduced the blue poppy to her gardens, and barely a decade later hundreds of blue poppies were blooming in Grand-Métis. This phenomenon is still going strong 90 years later.
To highlight the importance of the blue poppy in Elsie's horticultural collection, photographer Louise Tanguay was given a very specific assignment: to cover the blue poppy's flowering cycle. Over the next 2 weeks, you'll be able to catch a glimpse of Louise through the blue poppies, capturing the beauty of this fascinating plant. On July 16, in the Desjardins area of the Grand Hall, a selection of photographs will be on display and available for sale as part of a pop-up sale.
This activity is free with the purchase of daily access to the Reford Gardens (purchase must be completed upon registration). Members of Les Amis des Jardins de Métis must present their valid membership card at the entrance to the site.
