CONCERT | Taches (Éric Normand, bass, and Clarisse Bériault, oboe), unusual chamber music

She came from a classical music background, studied visual arts and theater, wrote poems and songs, then formed a poetic folk band.

A self-taught free improviser with punk roots, he studied literature before traveling the world with other European and Australian improvisers, with a shared passion for noise-oriented art and angular jazz.

One might ask, how and why did they start a band?

Isn't oboe and electric bass a problematic combination?

Anyway, they have a duo, and the music lies somewhere between everything you can imagine: delicate chamber music with a whole host of influences from Jimmy Giuffre to Morton Feldman, electronic noise and medieval songs.

Who knows if they read the score? Do they improvise? Does it matter? No matter what the music is made of, the only way it can be free is if it has nothing to prove. And what about freedom?

Free with purchase of daily access to Jardins de Métis (purchase must be completed upon registration). Members of Les Amis des Jardins de Métis must present their valid membership card at the entrance to the site. To have tickets, click here.
