Literary Teas at the Gardens : July 5, 3 pm Jennifer Tremblay
2009-07-01
Jennifer Tremblay was born in 1971 in Forestville, a small village on the north shore of the St. Lawrence. She adored school and was as wise as any young girl could be. However, things went awry when she learned how to ride a bike. She sometimes rode for such distances that the police had to fetch her to bring her home to her mother. The freedom she enjoyed by these momentary flights of liberty gave her the taste for more freedom, that she now enjoys in different ways, book fairs, workshops in schools, family vacations, the need to write in isolation. She studied literature at UQAM and published several short stories, a book of poetry (
Histoires de foudre
), a novel (
Tout ce qui brille
), a theatrical story (
La liste
), articles and albums for children (
Deux biscuits pour Sacha, Un secret pour Matisse, Miro et les canetons du lac Vert, Madame Zia
). She wrote several stories for television for youth for Radio-Canada and played roles in several of them. In 2004, she co-founded, with Martin Larocque, les Éditions de la Bagnole.
