Stacks of wood that evoke the beauty of the forest, a cloud of vines suspended over helium-filled balloons, a collection of nature’s beauty on display in elegant boxes, flax whipped into life by winds of 15 knots and a gargantuan structure of white tubes reaching skywards, are just some of the gardens that are on view at the 13th edition of the International Garden Festival that opens today.

From the four corners of the planet, 65 designers are presenting the 26 gardens the 13th edition of the Festival held on the grounds of Les Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in eastern Québec. The designers are landscape architects, architects and artists from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. Their gardens will seduce and provoke visitors and illustrate the extraordinary originality they bring to renewing the art of the garden.
