Reford Gardens Welcome the Film Crew from "Le tour du jardin"

Reford Gardens (Les Jardins de Métis) welcome the crew from the television program Le tour du jardin who will be on site to film a one hour program for broadcast next season. Filming will take place on July 4 and July 5.

The program Le tour du jardin, broadcast on the Historia network in Québec and across Canada since 2010, offers viewers an opportunity to visit Québec’s public and private gardens. Animated by Geneviège Rioux, the program takes us to the oldest and most splendid gardens in the province. At Les Jardins de Métis, she will tour with gardens’ director, Alexander Reford, who will unveil some of the secrets of the gardens and present some of the rare and unusual plants that form part of the collection. Historian Martin Fournier delves into the past and presents the lives of those who built the garden. Horticulturist Albert Mondor offers practical advice for amateur gardens. The program offers viewers an opportunity to learn more about plants and the secrets of their cultivation.

Les Jardins de Métis have been the subject of several programs and documentaires in recent years, notably Histoires Oubliées, Recreating Eden, Rhythm and Blooms, Martha Stewart and The Victory Garden. Recently a clip on the creation of a living fence by horticulturist Patricia Gallant was broadcast on the program Jardins on ARTV (http://artv.ca/jardins/living_fence). Chef Pierre-Olivier Ferry offered advice on cooking with local seafood on the program La Cantine on V-télé (http://vtele.ca/videos/la-cantine). The documentary Twice upon a garden by Philippe Baylaucq continues its round the world tour. It will be screened at the Architecture and Design Film Festival in New York in October.
