From Friday June 13 to Sunday June 15, Les Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens invites local residents to join in celebrating Canada’s Garden Days, a national event that recognizes Canada’s public and private gardens and their special role in promoting gardening and environmental awareness. Join in us in one of many activities over three days. On Friday at noon, dine with Alexander Reford and head gardener Patricia Gallant and enjoy luncheon prepeared by chef Pierre-Olivier Ferry featuring edible plants and flowers. Patricia Gallant will lead a tour of the gardens and its spring beauties. Call 418 775-2222 to reserve. On Saturday, we are offering a special 2 for 1 admission price to allow local residents to bring a friend to enjoy the spring bloom of azaleas, crabapples, many species of primrose and more. Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm is the first musical brunch of the summer, featuring Claude Belisle on the piano, and a menu to celebrate Father’s Day in the sumptuous surroundings of Estevan Lodge.
«Our team of more than eighty staff has been readying the gardens for weeks for our 52nd season. I am thrilled to see how horticulture has contributed to our local economy, » added director of Les Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens, Alexander Reford. « Not only are we committed to sharing the beauty of the gardens, we are also committed to beautifying the shoreline. We are again organizing a community cleanup of the shores of the St. Lawrence and the Mitis rivers on Saturday, June 14 beginning at 9 am. Our partners in the cleanup are the Banque Royale de Rimouski, the Centre de rénovation de La Mitis, Tim Hortons in Mont-Joli and Arseno from Matane.
